2. Remove USB wakeup from Standby to work around the system may have blue screen after resume from Standby.
DRAWBACKS:
- Support Computrace function
- BIOS ACPI manages in a “smart” way the C4 state (toggleable in BIOS settings). It seems C3 state is actually pointing at C4. (Why the heck is this hack needed?). As a result C4 state is not visible to the OS. - version F.09

DRAWBACKS:
1. This update makes BIOS ACPI “smart”. It will hide C3 and C4 CPU power save states when AC cable is plugged in. However if you unplug the cable while powered on or in standby CPU still cannot enter C3 and C4 power states and thus consumes more power. - version F.23 REV. A

ENHANCEMENTS:
- Updates the fan-control algorithm for the system to reduce the likelihood of future system issues. The bottom line is that the fan always spins, whereas previously it stopped below 47°C. This manages to considerably cool down the processor.
- The actual reason, however, is not to cool down the CPU but the GPU due to bricked nVidia GM84 and GM86 chipsets: see here for the explanations by HP and those by The Inquirer
FIXES:
- The BIOS “smartness” introduced with BIOS update F.22 Rev. A is reverted. Now C3 state is back available also when AC is plugged in. This enables the laptop to save more energy at an unnoticeable performance slowdown when switching between C states.
DRAWBACKS:
- system is more noisy and consumes a little more power (have an idea of how much?), on the other hand it is 10°C cooler.
- C4 state is still hidden from the OS and linked to C3 state - version F.53

I have a dv4000 HP laptop and I got a blue screen that said something about a bios update and I have no idea how to fix it. My computer will also not update at all it says d/l failed. I hope you can help. Thanks.
Hi Khaled!
I can suggest you to install one of the previous BIOS versions.
Furtermore you should hear your fan run at full speed while updateing the BIOS. If this does not occour maybe your fan has some mechanical or electrical problems.
Hi,
I have DV 6799ee and i have updated my BIOS to F.58 A
my fan stopped completly !
I’ve restored the original settings using my HP recovery ,
fan is still not working .
Laptop is getting extremly HOT if i played any game or
use it in any application that consumes a lot of resources .
Trying many applications to read the internal temp , like
SpeedFan , Hardware sensors monitor , etc.. i couldn’t get
all the reading ..
i think there is a main conflict inside..
I’ve reinstalled the ACPI ,still not working ..
Also, i’ve cleaned the fan , no dust was there ..
What to do more , any suggestion ?!
please help ..
I have hp pavilion dv2530er and yesterday I’ve flashed v.F.2D BIOS. All’s OK. What are you interested in?

Hi guys, I’ve uploaded to F.2D. Doesn’t bring the temperature down very much though.
My laptop model isn’t even on
I have an HP Pavilion DV2725TX by the way.
I have a GeForce 8400 GS. Even though the fan is supposed to improve the temperature problem, it doesn’t
seem to help much. Crappy NVIDIA and HP for their support on the problem

Hi jethai,
I”m sorry I hadn’t added a download link for that bios.
If I were you I wouldn’t even try updating the bios with wine.
The bios updater requires a Windows 2000 or greater environment, thus you have to temporary install a minimal windows partition (you may use nlite and vlite to shrink windows setup) or a windows live DVD environment created with BartPE for example.
Sorry, my bad on the other post. F.2B just came out in may. F.2A is: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp38501-39000/sp38886.exe
Now, to figure out if wine can do this or if i have to get one of those dos thingies…
hi, is there a link for f.2a? i’m using f.25 right now and my fan is going crazy… thanks.
