THANK YOU!!! I am in the US Navy and got scheduled to deploy. I bought an HP dv2000 from B3st Buy and loved the integrated webcam and chat options. I quickly learned vista was 3 things. Bloated, Annoying, and completely useless and inefficient. I needed an OS that met my needs and didnt take 5 minutes to load. I thought about XP but I didnt want to mess up a $1000 laptop that I wasnt sure if there were drivers for it or not, and having the web cam was a MUST for my wife and i to communicate from 10000 miles away. I looked on google to do some research about Ubuntu, because my friend said that Ubuntu was the most popular and user friendly linux platform . What the hell why not find out if linux will run on my DV2000. aldeby.org was on the top ten list of links when i did my google search. I just wanted to thank you so very much for giving me the freedom of an OS that does what I need it to do and it does it FREE! I dont have to worry about hackers, viruses, constant updates, or lack of support. I just regret that i had to pay MS and HP for having Vista preloaded…really makes me nauseous that i even paid for it! I have only one question/complaint. Can you tell me how to get the S video to work. I have a lot of videos that i have created using various video clips from my military experiences and i would like to be able to plug the laptop into the tv and show my family the slide show on my 32 inch tv instead of my 14.5 inch monitor… Any links or tutorials would be wonderful! Thank you so much again for the wonderful tutorial and freedom.
