    SUPERSEDES:  SP35571
    EFFECTIVE DATE:  01 June 2007

    1. Support Discrete Graphics SKU.
    2. Support Computrace function.
    FIXES:
    1. Fix quickplay may unexpectedly launched after resume from resume from standby/hibernation.
    2. Remove USB wakeup from Standby to work around the system may have blue screen after resume from Standby.
    DRAWBACKS:
    - Support Computrace function
    - BIOS ACPI manages in a “smart” way the C4 state (toggleable in BIOS settings). It seems C3 state is actually pointing at C4. (Why the heck is this hack needed?). As a result C4 state is not visible to the OS.
  • version F.09
    SOFTPAQ number::  SP36379
    SUPERSEDES:  SP36002
    EFFECTIVE DATE:  06 July 2007

    1. Fixes issue where notebooks with 4-GB of memory that are running a Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit Operating System cannot access Memory Stick (MS) or xD-Picture.
    2. Fixes issue where the notebook would incorrectly enter the Boot menu after exiting from F1 System Information.
    DRAWBACKS: none known
  • version F.22 REV. A

    2. Fix hot plugging the Giga LAN express card, the device will have yellow mark in device manager.
    DRAWBACKS:
    1. This update makes BIOS ACPI “smart”. It will hide C3 and C4 CPU power save states when AC cable is plugged in. However if you unplug the cable while powered on or in standby CPU still cannot enter C3 and C4 power states and thus consumes more power.
  • version F.23 REV. A
    SOFTPAQ NUMBER:  SP37634

    resuming from Standby mode.

    EFFECTIVE DATE:  March 25, 2008

    ENHANCEMENTS:
    - Updates the fan-control algorithm for the system to reduce the likelihood of future system issues. The bottom line is that the fan always spins, whereas previously it stopped below 47°C. This manages to considerably cool down the processor.
    FIXES:
    - The BIOS “smartness” introduced with BIOS update F.22 Rev. A is reverted. Now C3 state is back available also when AC is plugged in. This enables the laptop to save more energy at an unnoticeable performance slowdown when switching between C states.
    DRAWBACKS:
    - system is more noisy and consumes a little more power (have an idea of how much?), on the other hand it is 10°C cooler.

    Hi jethai,
I”m sorry I hadn’t added a download link for that bios.
If I were you I wouldn’t even try updating the bios with wine.
The bios updater requires a Windows 2000 or greater environment, thus you have to temporary install a minimal windows partition (you may use nlite and vlite to shrink windows setup) or a windows live DVD environment created with BartPE for example.

  2. Sorry, my bad on the other post. F.2B just came out in may. F.2A is: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp38501-39000/sp38886.exe

Now, to figure out if wine can do this or if i have to get one of those dos thingies…

  3. hi, is there a link for f.2a? i’m using f.25 right now and my fan is going crazy… thanks.
